Vision Copen - Daihatsu's compact 2-door sports concept

Vision Copen is a 2-door sports car concept, 1.3 liter engine, inspired by the Daihatsu Copen kei car model launched in 2002.

Daihatsu, a sub-brand of the "giant" Toyota, introduces the Vision Copen compact convertible sports car concept, which will appear at the Japan Mobility Show 2023 (October 26-November 5, Tokyo).

The concept is inspired by the Copen 2-door sports kei-car launched in 2002 in the Japanese domestic market. This time Vision Copen still retains the design of round lights at the head, along with soft, plump lines on the body.

In terms of size, the car is smaller than the world's best-selling two-seat sports model Mazda MX-5, specifically length x width x height (mm) parameters are 3,835 x 1,695 x 1,265, wheelbase is 2,415 mm. Thus, the concept version is 440 mm longer than the 2nd generation Copen model sold in Japan.

The Vision Copen interior has a simple and driver-focused design, equipped with a digital driving display, touch controls and sports seats. The interior and exterior design lines of this concept are considered not too far from reality, and are completely suitable to become a car model put on the production line. Therefore, some experts believe that Daihatsu may want to enter the compact sports car segment.

Regarding the power of Vision Copen, Daihatsu has only revealed that the car uses a 1.3 liter engine, double the allowable capacity of kei car models, and added that the car can operate on "carbon neutral fuel". . Interior details suggest the car uses an automatic transmission.
